Mrs. Cook

1st Grade Teacher

Hello! Welcome to 1st grade! I am Mrs. Cook, and I will be your teacher this year. Let me tell you a little about myself. I live in Bradenton, and have my whole life. I am married to a man named Graham, whom you have probably seen around the school very often. He likes to come in and help sometimes. I graduated college from the University of South Florida in Sarasota. I taught at Prine Elementary for 1 ½ years and then moved over here to Manatee School of Arts and Sciences. I really love it here. Last year I taught 2nd grade, and towards the end of the year Mrs. Jolly asked me to teach 1st grade this year. I am very excited to get to know you and help you to learn all kinds of exciting new things.
This year you will be learning how to read! We will be working very hard throughout the year to help you to become a strong and independent reader. We will play games and complete lots of activities to assist you with reading. We will also be working with a new Math Series. You will be part of the first, 1st grade class at the school to try it out. You should feel very special because this is a very new program and should be very exciting and fun to learn from.  We will also be doing many different science activities and experiments as well as learning about our world around us. It will be a great year of learning and growing!

Below are 2 different ways that you, a family member or friend can donate to our classroom.
1.)    Go to Target and look up Julie Cook’s MSAS Classroom Wish List ’09    OR
2.)    I belong to an online support program called Adopt-A-Classroom. On this site, you, a family member or friend can go on and donate monetarily to our classroom. I was introduced to this site last school year and had over $200 donated to our room. I was able to purchase quite a bit of items that the students enjoyed thoroughly. If you or someone else is interested in donating please go to www.adoptaclassroom.com and go to Donors and click on select a classroom and type in my name Julie Cook and Florida. My name should come up on the right. It will walk you through the donation process. Donations are greatly appreciated and used wisely.
Thank You!
