Mrs. Boler
Kindergarten Teacher
|
I am originally from Rochester, MN. I received my Bachelor’s of
Science from Marquette University in 1984. I lived in Australia
for fourteen years and then Portland, OR for seven years before
arriving in Bradenton, FL. My daughter has attended MSAS since
first grade and loves being in Mrs. Lyons’ class this year. I
taught at MSAS last year. I was so excited when Mrs. Jolly asked
me to teach Kindergarten this year. I feel I have found my niche
and cannot tell you the satisfaction that comes with seeing a 5
year old learn to read and write for the first time. It is a
true gift to be able to experience that with my students
everyday.
Our classroom is very hands on and musical. Our daily routine
includes songs that teach, the months of year, the days of the
week, how to count from 1-20, or to 100 by 5’s and 10’s, all the
short and long vowel sounds, and many more that change depending
on our focus that day. You can see students working in small
groups at different literacy centers or the whole group reading
together using the interactive Smartboard. Five year olds play
games on the Smartboard like it’s a giant computer screen. They
can work out the technology instinctively and thrive on the
excitement of piecing together their own pumpkin faces or
listening to “The Gingerbread Man” story being read to them with
the tap of their fingers on the Smartboard.
I feel privileged to be teaching the future gradutes of 2023!
